All organizations that anticipate serving food during RAGBRAI® are reminded that the early registration deadline for the Safe Food class is Thursday, May 17. The class is free for those who register on or before May 17; after May 17 there is a $10 registration fee.
Greene County Extension and Outreach is offering the course Thursday, May 24,from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the Extension office in Jefferson. The course will be taught by Ann Heuer, registered dietician and an Extension nutrition and wellness specialist.
The course will include topics like correct hand washing practices, food storage, safe food temperatures and more.
Community and church groups that anticipate serving a meal during RAGBRAI, along with anyone involved with the Bell Tower Festival as a food vendor, 4-H leaders and members who volunteer at the Clover Café during the county fair, and farmers market vendors are encouraged to attend.
